Sporting Bodies And Leisure Centres

Every year young, healthy people die after a Sudden Cardiac Arrest – often on a sports field. Over 6,000 people in Ireland die from cardiac arrest every year, a figure far higher than fires, drowning or electric shock.

Studies show that if you suffer a cardiac arrest outside a hospital setting you only have between a 1% - 2% chance of survival. HOWEVER these studies also show that following the right process and acting in a timely way can greatly increase the chance of survival – up to 54%. Some studies even put the survival rate as high as 80% if the right response is provided.
